Whereas the Ecumenical Senior Center provides a broad spectrum of services, resources, and activities to enhance the quality of life of older citizens living in and around Kalamazoo.
Whereas the Ecumenical Senior Center strives to promote positive aging and enhance the quality of live of older adults.
Whereas no other population has been hit harder from the devastating affects of COVID-19 than our seniors.
Whereas more than 90% of the seniors served at the Ecumenical Senior Center are low-income, African American who often report his/her struggle to meet their basic needs for nutritious food, safe and affordable housing, as well as easy access to transportation.
Whereas the Ecumenical Senior Center plans to expand the very building that once housed the Van Avery Drug Store and is often cited as the location for the start of the civil rights movement in Kalamazoo.
Whereas on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the Ecumenical Senior Center plans to launch its Capital Campaign to renovate its current facility and add up to 10,000 sq. ft. of new construction to meet the growing program needs of our seniors.
