INSTRUCTOR: Stephanie Klapper (Casting Director, Stephanie Klapper Casting)  

In this acting the monologue masterclass, Stephanie Klapper of Stephanie Klapper Casting will coach selected performers through contemporary monologues from theatre. Stephanie will share her expertise through the lens of her decades of experience as a casting director. There will be a Q and A.

DISABLED DOWN CENTER is a program that spotlights disability in entertainment through performance and free training opportunities.

NOTE:
The  DISABLED DOWN CENTER Training Program is for EVERYONE! (Disabled talent and allies)

Performer slot ratio for masterclass:
8 disabled actors
2 non disabled actors (allies)

THE CLASS ZOOM LINK WILL BE SENT VIA E-MAIL ON JULY 7, 2023

American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be provided for the masterclass, and captions will be turned on as well. 

If you submit for a performer slot, but are not selected, you will be sent the class Zoom link to audit.

PERFORMER SELECTION PROCESS:

Please submit a self-tape of a contemporary (comedic or dramatic) monologue from theatre. This will be the monologue you would be working on with Stephanie if selected to perform in class. Please keep the monologue or scene under 2 minutes.  Upload your headshot and resume in the field below.

Slate (Place slate before monologue):
  1. Your name and pronouns.
  2. If you identify as disabled or not.
  3. If you are 18 years of age or older. (minors allowed to perform with parents or legal guardians permission)
  4. Share briefly about yourself and why you would like to be selected as a performer for this masterclass.

NOTE : Keep tape under three minutes and thirty seconds (3:30) in total. 

Performers will be selected based upon potential for growth through performing in the masterclass. The goal is to create the best learning experience for masterclass performers and auditors alike.

This is strictly an educational opportunity.

International submissions will be accepted. However, monologue work will be in English or American Sign Language. 

If you are submitting a self-tape using American Sign Language, please either caption your video or have an off screen interpreter. 

Submission deadline for performer slots: June 29, 2023 at 6 PM EST USA

Selected performers will be notified on July 2, 2023
