SURVEY OF GRIEF AND PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT OF DEATH OF LOVED ONES DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Introduction :
COVID-19 pandemic has altered how people live, die and mourn. COVID-19 related death, social distancing rules and visitor restrictions have put various restrictions on funeral rituals. Restriction on funeral rituals may increase the chance of developing symptoms of prolonged grief (PG). Prolonged grief has detrimental effects on well-being of the deceased family members.

Purpose :
This study aimed to determine the prevalence of prolonged grief symptoms due to loss of a loved one during COVID-19 pandemic during COVID-19 pandemic.

Study Procedure:
Eligible participants who are 1) At least 18 years old, 2) deceased death period between 15 March 2020 and 11 October 2021, the period of movement control order (MCO) in Malaysia, and 3) engaged Xiao En funeral services. 

Participation in the Study:
Participation in this research is entirely voluntary.

Benefit in participating in the Study:
Taking part in this research has a direct benefit to participants. Firstly, participating in this study will provide an opportunity for study participants to determine their level of grief and psychological impact, and provide them an opportunity to seek counselling services. Secondly, your participations will help us to identify gaps in practice and mitigation measure to prepare for future pandemics.

Risk to participants:
There is always a risk that you might feel upset or experience psychological unease from answering this survey. Should this happen, you may contact the research team and counselling service may be provided.

Ethical approval:
This study was approved by the Universiti Malaya Research Ethics Committee (UM.TNC2/UMREC_2380)
