OVERVIEW & INSTRUCTIONS

Welcome candidates!

2023 can be Bridgeport's year of change, because this November, Bridgeporters have a chance to vote for a new Mayor.

Over the past year, Bridgeport Generation Now Votes and our Unrig Bridgeport coalition partners - Bridgeport Strong, Connecticut Citizen Action Group, the Greater Bridgeport Ed Gomes Black Democratic Club, the Greater Bridgeport NAACP, Make the Road Action Connecticut, PT Partners, and SEIU 1199 New England - have been engaging with voters in every corner of our city, seeking out their ideas for how we can help Bridgeport reach its great potential.

From this dialogue - conducted via one-on-one conversations in neighborhoods, larger community meetings, and through a citywide poll of residents - comes The People's Platform, a progressive vision centered around all of our priorities for Bridgeport: good government, education, housing, public safety, jobs, infrastructure, environmental protection, and arts and culture.

Bridgeport Generation Now Votes and the Unrig Bridgeport Coalition are committed to advancing these proposals, and all candidates running for Mayor are invited to complete the candidate questionnaire and join us in pledging to do the same. You can read The People's Platform in its entirety at www.unrigbridgeport.com

We anticipate this questionnaire will take you about one hour to complete. All applications are due by Wednesday, May 17th, 2023. Upon receiving your completed questionnaire, an endorsement committee made up of senior leaders from Bridgeport Generation Now Votes and the Unrig Bridgeport Coalition will evaluate your responses based on these inputs. We will then invite like-minded candidates to participate in candidate interviews on Tuesday May 23rd and Wednesday, May 24th, and then announce the endorsed Mayoral candidate on Saturday, June 3rd.

We will repeat this process for City Council and Board of Education candidates in June, after which we will announce the full Unrig Bridgeport slate of candidates. Our coalition will work throughout the summer to get out the vote for all of our endorsed candidates.

Together, we can implement the vision laid out in The People's Platform, free ourselves from the systemic corruption that has held us back for too long, and finally build the Bridgeport we know is possible.

DEADLINE: ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY WED, MAY 17th
