About Module 1: Cracked tooth syndrome
Presenter: Dr David Clark - 22 April, 10:30am – 12.00pm (NZST)

This talk provides a foundation in understanding the problem of fractured teeth and basic solid tooth mechanics. It also presents views on fracturing patterns in endodontically treated teeth and endo-restorative aspects from cusp tip to apex.  It will help clinicians Identify and diagnose cracked teeth and help us understand when intervention is required. That is, when to restore, when to do endodontic treatment and when to extract these teeth.

Biography of Dr David Clark DDS

Dr. David Clark is a groundbreaking cosmetic dentist and one of the pioneers in the use of the microscope in restorative dentistry. A 1986 graduate of the University of Washington School of Dentistry, he founded the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry and is codirector of Bioclear Learning Centers International.

In 2007, Dr. Clark developed the Bioclear Matrix, a set of devices that dramatically improved the outcomes possible in composite restorations, including cracked, chipped, or broken teeth, gaps between teeth, and more.

He went on to develop the Bioclear Method, a system of restorative dental procedures and protocols that, when combined in practice with Bioclear tools and materials, results in predictable, aesthetically pleasing, and long-lasting patient outcomes.

About Module 4: Bleaching of Non-vital Teeth
Presenter: Dr Mohamed Amer - 19 July, 7:30 – 9:15pm (NZST)

This module will help identify the causes and nature of tooth discoloration and differentiate between dentine and enamel discolorations. It will explain the mechanism of tooth bleaching which will help in selecting the bleaching agent and technique according to its cause. The internal “walking bleach” technique will be described in detail which will include how to select the appropriate method to restore the access cavity after tooth bleaching. Understanding how bleaching agents may alter tooth structures as plays a vital part in how we restore these teeth. Failure to understand this part may mean that the tooth quickly discolours, or it may compromise the overall root canal treatment. It will also describe means of preventing tooth discolorations and evaluate both the short-term and long-term prognoses of bleaching treatments. Lastly it will recognize the potential adverse effects of tooth bleaching and discuss means of prevention.
