CCST has recently entered into a partnership with the California Research Bureau to support the CRB Nexus, a community of practice for policymakers and public scholars. CRB Nexus will establish a hub for connecting policymakers and researchers to each other as well as to policy relevant research, information, tools, training, and data. In addition to connecting state policymakers to California expertise, CRB Nexus will convene a cohort of early career researchers with a career trajectory in public scholarship and provide opportunities for training and professional development.
CCST is seeking experts to participate in the CRB Nexus in two capacities. Please submit your nominations (including self nominations) no later than Monday, August 7 using this form.
1. Speaker series at CRB Nexus. The speaker series will consist of several virtual events where scholars will present policy relevant research to an audience consisting of policymakers, their staff, and other public stakeholders. Based on a survey of legislative partners’ policy interest, CRB nexus is particularly interested in hosting speakers to present scholarship in the following policy areas:
- Economy
- Environment & Natural Resources
- Housing, Transportation, & Infrastructure
- General Government
- Utilities & Energy
2. CRB Nexus 2024 honorific cohort. CCST is seeking
early career researchers with an interest in public scholarship to participate. Early career includes graduate students in the final stages of their program, post-docs, lecturers, and assistant or junior faculty. Members of the 2024 cohort will receive monthly trainings and workshops aimed at supporting the development of their public policy knowledge and skills.
