Knappa Preschool Registration
We are happy to announce that we are moving forward with registering children for Knappa School District families. The preschool is primarily for children who will be 3 or 4 years old on September 1, 2021. Those who responded to the district’s preschool survey are encouraged to register their children if they want them to attend. Responding to the survey greatly helped in planning the preschool. All families living within Knappa School District boundaries are welcome to register their children.

Our preschool, Knappa Early Learning, will operate 6 hours per day (approximately 8:30am-2:30pm) 4 days/week. The days will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. These days were determined by the availability of Crossroads Community Church where the preschool will be located. The staff, of one teacher and 2 assistants, will be Knappa SD employees. The curriculum selected by the district will be developmentally and age appropriate. The calendar will align closely with the K-12 school calendar.

The cost will be $640/month. It will include breakfast, lunch and transportation as needed. We are pleased to be able to offer financial assistance through a sliding scale to some of the 18 children who will be part of the preschool. Assistance will be determined by information provided by families who complete the Free/Reduced Lunch application. The information is confidential and reviewed only by appropriate administrators.

Registration opens on June 3. Parents/guardians are encouraged to register children as soon as possible as space will be limited. A waiting list will be created as needed. Expansion to another site may be considered if needed. If financial assistance is desired the Free/Reduced Lunch application will need to be submitted soon after registering. The applications are available from the district office or Hilda Lahti office. All parents/guardians who complete the registration will be notified if their child(ren) have a spot or on a waiting list.
