Speaker Introduction:
Jamie Lin
Master of Big Data Analytics and Business Intelligence from Tamkang University, dual master's degrees in Arts Management and Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati, and a degree in Statistics from Tamkang University. After graduating from university, she worked in performing arts administration for over 20 years, holding positions in teams such as Cloud Gate Dance Theatre (performance assistant), Zhu Zongqing Percussion Ensemble (marketing department market development specialist), and Taiwan Wind Ensemble (planning manager). Most of the time, she worked as a freelance contractor, assisting Taiwanese musicians in organizing concerts. The large-scale events she handled include two editions of the "Asian Composers League Conference and Music Festival" in 2011 and 2018 (executive secretary) and the National Theater's "New Ideas Music Exhibition" in 2013 and 2014 (executive producer). In 2013, she founded Legato Gathering, focusing on serving outstanding musicians in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, since attending a big data analytics seminar in 2014, she had been contemplating how data analytics could be applied to performing arts. After a few years of thinking, she decided to return to school for a quicker solution. During her master's program in Big Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, she completed several research projects using real performance-related data. Her master's thesis, "Application of Collaborative Filtering Technology in Performance Arts Ticket Purchase Recommendations—A Case Study of the National Theater Ticket Sales Data," received the Excellent Thesis Award for the Master's category at the 16th Chong-Yuet Thesis Awards. Currently, she shares her data analytics applications in performing arts and cultural circles through her blog: https://medium.com/@jamie613.tw
