Butterfly Monitor Training
Help Merry Lea learn more about our resident butterfly populations and add to a valuable regional data set at the same time! This training will go over the Michigan Butterfly Network Monitoring protocol. You will learn about our native butterflies and how to monitor a specific route.  The training will be lead by John Brittenham of Blue Heron Ministries.

Volunteers must be able to attend both portions of the training in order to become butterfly monitors. Please reach out to Freya with any questions you may have.
Seed Spreading

Remember all those seeds you helped collect in the fall last year? We're going to get them ON.THE.GROUND! One method of enhancing a planted prairie involves spreading supplemental seed after a prescribed fire. Thanks to the folks who were able to help with prescribed fire, we have a couple areas that we can follow-up with seeding this spring. We'll talk about the different techniques and timing for seeding and what we can hope to see happen with this approach!

We will be working off trail, so please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Insect/tick repellent, long sleeves, and work/garden gloves are HIGHLY recommended. Please also bring drinking water and anything else you think you may need during this activity.

We will be working near Rieth Village, 4415 W 200 S, Albion, IN 46701.

Garlic Mustard Pulling
It's garlic mustard season! Join Merry Lea for a round of pulling this invasive plant.

Meeting location will be determined a few days before this event based on where the greatest need is at that time. Freya will contact you via email with those details.

We will be working off trail, so please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Insect/tick repellent, long sleeves, and work/garden gloves are HIGHLY recommended.

Please also bring drinking water and anything else you think you may need during this activity.

Digital Deer Counting
We are working with the IDNR to survey the deer population on the property. The photos have been taken. Once we get the images, we need to count the deer in those photos. This will occur indoors, at a computer. See image below as an example of the kind of images we will be counting from. There are three deer in that photo! (Top right)
