What can we do to cut down on solicitations in the neighborhood? Recommended no soliciting signs at entrance to the neighborhood and for people to have these on their homes as well to cut down on door knockers.

How’s our surrounding security? Has Covid affected safety and security?  Overall, we live in a very safe community but that doesn’t mean there aren’t criminals looking for easy opportunity.  Continue to lock your doors and make smart decisions

Increase of pan-handlers in McLean.  Is it legal? Yes, it is legal, no you do not need to give them money.

Trends? Catalytic convertor theft prevention? home theft deterrents? Use of Ring cameras? Sex trafficking in mall? Criminals are still out there; majority appear to be looking for easy targets (unlocked doors or obvious signs that people are out of town).  Be diligent at locking doors, communicate with neighbors and be on the look for anything out of the ordinary

What can be done about rush hour “cut through “ — in PM, it especially goes from Rte 7 inbound then along Lewinsville Road, over to Georgetown Pike, and onto the inner loop of the Beltway? They evade tolls and clog residential streets. It’s impossible for us to get to Maryland from 5 to 7 PM. Thanks.

There have been several break-ins in the area. I read that they are breaking in through the second floor to bypass alarm systems. How are they reaching the second level and what can we do to protect our homes from break-ins?  FCPD does have a program where they will come out and do a security consult of your home free of charge!!  Leaving tools around the house that enable criminals is something to watch for

Do your recommend a home security company (ADT or other) that works best with Fairfax County Police? Are their systems similar in effectiveness and do you find a particular system better at deterring, monitoring, and catching criminals?  The police department confirmed they do not endorse any particular company but security systems are good.  The best detection is an active neighborhood where people look out for each other and report issues as they arise

Why do you not drive through the Hamlet on a regular basis? Especially during summer months? The Police do drive through our neighborhood, when possible, to show an increase presence.  Terry Hatami, our Safety and Security officer pushes on the police department every opportunity to do this however they do have limited resources

What extra patrols will be used to enforce proper parking within the neighborhood at future swim meets? And from Spring Hill Elementary School parents picking/dropping kids at the top of Macbeth? Due to limited resources, there have been less policing of these types of activities.
