Pride Center MissionThe mission of the Pride Center of Terre Haute is to serve the LGBTQIAP2S+ community, questioning individuals, and allies in the Wabash Valley through the provision of supportive programs, services, resources, education, and advocacy within a safe community center space.

We envision an equitable Wabash Valley community where LGBTQIAP2S+ persons can live safely and openly with pride.
Q+ Coalition Goal
Create and facilitate a community coalition to assist with center initiatives and to prioritize community ideas and needs. Invite community conversations and collaboration to oversee the development of resources, services, programs, and advocacy for the local queer community.
Q+ Coalition Subcommittees
The Q+ Coalition includes a main coalition group with seven distinct subcommittees which are directly tied to goals within the Pride Center of Terre Haute 2023-2027 strategic plan. Learn more about each committee and their associated goal below.
Programming Committee:
- Create opportunities for community building and forging meaningful connections among LGBTQIAP2S+ people.
- Provide monthly social, educational, and cultural programming tailored to and inclusive of various age and identity groups to increase opportunities to connect as well as to foster understanding, solidarity, and support.
- Host annual Pride Month events and Pride Festival in collaboration with local organizations, businesses, and individuals to celebrate LGBTQIAP2S+ history, contributions, joy, and pride.
Services Committee:
- Provide relevant services and resource referrals to the LGBTQIAP2S+ community, our allies, and the Wabash Valley community.
- Partner with a local mental health agency to offer support groups tailored to transgender people, LGBTQIAP2S+ youth, LGBTQIAP2S+ adults, and families and friends of LGBTQIAP2S+ people.
- Provide supportive wellness care through the Pride Center’s hygiene closet, chest binder exchange program, contraceptives, and post-gender confirmation surgery care kits as well as through partnerships with community agencies.
- Identify and vet regional LGBTQIAP2S+ affirming social service and healthcare service providers to expand resource referral system through eIntervention and Outcare.
- Partner with Indiana Legal Services LGBT Project to offer legal clinics for support through legal name and gender marker changes and other legal needs to address instances of discrimination, harassment, and violence.
Education Committee:
- Provide relevant educational opportunities to the LGBTQIAP2S+ community, our allies, and the Wabash Valley community.
- Offer Practicing Allyship and Delivering LGBTQIAP2S+ Affirming Care educational training to community organizations, businesses, and individuals (goal: 1,000 individuals) with content tailored to a variety of professions, settings, and specific needs.
LGBTQ+ Businesses Committee:
- Coordinate with the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center’s Intentional Outreach Network to offer LGBTQIAP2S+ Business Advising services to develop and support business owners and the LGBTQIAP+ Owned Business Coalition.
Policy Committee:
- Center justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and advocacy practices in every element of our organization.
- Require anti-racism, LGBTQIAP2S+ allyship, and inclusion training for all board members and volunteers.
- Respond to institutional, local, state, and national policy issues, which impact the LGBTQIAP2S+ community and marginalized groups through policy statements, advocacy, collaboration with the ACLU of Indiana and Indiana Legal Services LGBT Project, and more.
Marketing Committee:
- Strengthen community awareness of and engagement with Pride Center of Terre Haute.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing and communication strategies that further the mission and impact of the Pride Center and bolster outreach across social media, website, email, and print content distribution channels.
- Engage in regular outreach to local schools, agencies, businesses, partners, collaborators, and broader community to share about and increase participation in Pride Center programs and services.
- Establish processes for gathering community member feedback on Pride Center initiatives, programming, services, priorities, and strategic planning.
Development Committee:
- Ensure center sustainability through donor, grant, community partner, and volunteer support.
- Create and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to build financial support for the Pride Center’s community center space, operations, personnel, programs, and services.
- Develop a donor and sponsor engagement program to engage benefactors and share information about their impact on the Pride Center.
- Pursue grant opportunities to fund annual operational needs and supportive services.
