AIMHO Awards Nomination and Scholarship Application Form 2019
Outstanding Entry-Level Professional Award – The Outstanding Entry-Level Professional award is presented every year to a housing professional that is currently working in a Hall Director, Administrative Assistant, Occupancy Manager, or equivalent level at an AIMHO member school. The award encompasses outstanding efforts and work from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently employed at an AIMHO member school.
Contributes significantly to the Housing and Residence Life profession.
Contributions are noted from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference
 
Outstanding Graduate Student Award - The Outstanding Graduate Student award is presented every year to a graduate student attending an AIMHO member school. The award encompasses outstanding efforts and work from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled as a graduate student at an AIMHO member school.
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.
Contributions are noted from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference
Preference will be given to students who are working, or plan to work in, the area of Student Affairs, especially with college/university housing.
 
Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award - The Outstanding Undergraduate Student award is presented every year to an undergraduate student attending an AIMHO member school. The award encompasses outstanding efforts and work from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate at an AIMHO member school.
Currently living in a residence hall, college, or university housing.
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.
Contributions are noted from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference
Preference will be given to students who are working, or plan to work in, the area of Student Affairs, especially with college and university housing.

Distinguished Service Awards - This award is designed to recognize years of service, dedication and significant contributions to students in the residence halls and the residential community. All staff levels (custodial, clerical, professional, etc.) will be considered. This is an opportunity to recognize a member of your staff who has served Student Housing or Residence Life in an outstanding manner and worked to strengthen the community on your campus. This can also be an opportunity to recognize a staff member who cannot be nominated for the traditional awards most campuses offer. This award can be presented to more than one person each year, and nominees are not required to attend the AIMHO conference where recipients will be announced. Only one nomination from each school will be considered.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Significant contribution to Student Housing/Residence Life or Food Services must be apparent. Please indicate to what extent the following standards are met:
Sincerely and consistently does his/her/hir* job at a high level of performance.
Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the Residence Life program and maintains an outstanding attitude toward job assignments and fellow employees.
Exhibits a positive attitude and willingness to go beyond what is expected when assisting students, staff and guests.
Has served a minimum of five years at the nominating college or university.

Outstanding Mid-Level Professional Award – The Outstanding Mid-Level Professional award is presented every year to a housing professional that is currently working in an Associate Director, Assistant Director, Area (Hall) Manager/Coordinator, or equivalent level at an AIMHO member school. The award encompasses outstanding efforts and work from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently working in one of the defined managerial level positions listed above.
Currently employed at an AIMHO member school.
Contributions are noted from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.

The Professional Social Justice Action Award - The Professional Social Justice Action Award - The Professional Social Justice Action Award is presented every year to an individual working at an AIMHO member school who enhances diversity and social justice awareness, understanding, and education. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently employed at an AIMHO member school.
Must be a faculty/staff member at an AIMHO member school.
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.

The Graduate Student Social Justice Action Award - The Graduate Student Social Justice Action Award is presented every year to an individual working at an AIMHO member school who enhances diversity and social justice awareness, understanding, and education. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled as a graduate student at an AIMHO member school.
Must be a graduate student member at an AIMHO member school.
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.
 
Undergraduate Student Social Justice Action Award – The Undergraduate Student Social Justice Action Award is presented every year to an undergraduate student attending an AIMHO member school who enhances diversity and social justice awareness, understanding, and education. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate at an AIMHO member school.
Currently living in a residence hall/apartment affiliated with the housing department at their institution.
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.
 

AIMHO Outstanding Service Award - The AIMHO Outstanding Service award is designed to acknowledge the contributions of a professional in the AIMHO region.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently involved within the AIMHO region OR have enhanced the region’s success on a national/international level
Has made significant contribution to the success of a Committee or the Executive Board as a Committee Chair/Member or an Executive Board Member over the past year (since the previous annual conference)
Contributes significantly to the Residence Life program and university community on his/her/hir* campus.
* “Hir” is a gender neutral derivation of the pronouns “him” and “her”; it is pronounced “here”.

Outstanding Committee Member Award – The Outstanding Committee Member award is new as of 2017 and is designed to provide recognition for those individuals within the AIMHO region that have served on an AIMHO Committee. The award encompasses outstanding efforts and work that the individual has put in while a member of a committee from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful nominee must meet the following criteria:
Currently employed at an AIMHO member school.
Contributes significantly to their AIMHO committee and has contributed to the overall success and progress of the committee.

Outstanding Professional Development Award -The Outstanding Professional Development Award is new as of 2019 and is designed to provide recognition for those individuals within the AIMHO region that have shown a dedication to professional development on their own campus as well as the professional development of the region. The award encompasses outstanding efforts and work that the individual has put in to webinars, presentations, and education from the previous year's AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference.

A successful Nominee must meet the following Criteria:
Currently employed at an AIMHO member school
Contributes significantly to the professional development on their own campus, as well as professional development of the region
Contributions are noted from the previous year’s AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference


AIMHO Strategic Initiatives Award - The Strategic Initiatives Award is new as of 2019 and is presented to a housing professional that is currently employed at an AIMHO member school. The award is designed to recognize an individual who has embodied the AIMHO strategic initiatives of Involvement, One Stop Shop, Innovative Education, and Inclusion from the previous year’s AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference. The award will be presented at the annual AIMHO Conference

A successful Nominee must meet the following Criteria:
Currently employed at an AIMHO member school
Contributes significantly to the AIMHO strategic Initiatives of Involvement, One Stop Shop, Innovative Education, and Inclusion.
Contributions are noted from the previous year’s AIMHO conference to the current AIMHO conference


Dick Daines Memorial Scholarship - This is a $400.00 scholarship awarded to a new professional in Apartment/Family Housing. Criteria: A successful nominee would be asked to submit an article to the AIMHO Angle newsletter about their experience working in apartment/family housing. Share your experience working with apartment/family housing at your current institution.


Small School Registration Scholarship - This scholarship is a waiver on one full registration fee and one night's single/double lodging at the AIMHO conference. Criteria: The AIMHO organization has defined a "small school" as being one whose housing program accomodates 1 - 1,000 students on the campus of the applicant. The scholarship may be awarded to one or more applicants. Share your experience working at a small school.


AIMHO College Scholarship - This $95 scholarship will support AIMHO College participants. Criteria: Share your excitement for attending AIMHO College and what you're most looking forward to in attending AIMHO College.  This scholarship is need based for those attending the AIMHO College. Please note that the following questions will need to be addressed in the application for the AIMHO College Scholarshp only. These will help the selection committee select recipients based on need:
1) The total anticipated cost for your attendance at AIMHO (travel, registration, meals) $ _____

Commitment to Diversity & Social Justice Scholarship - This scholarship covers the full registration cost to the AIMHO Conference and is open to all AIMHO members attending the annual conference. Criteria: It will be awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity and social justice on their home campus. Applicants should share their commitment to diversity and social justice and examples of how they have showed their commitment to diversity and social justice at their current institution.
