CAT Adoption Application Form
We love and care for all of our rescued cats and kittens and our main priority is to ensure that they will spend the rest of their lives in safe, loving homes that are able to give them the veterinary attention that they require including (but not limited to) annual check ups &vaccinations, deworming& deflea (at least every 6 months).

At Luna Cat Rescue, we pride ourselves on matching cats and kittens with the right homes taking into account any current resident pets, all family members as well as your lifestyle.
It might be that you are interested in a specific cat or kitten that we know will not be the right fit for your home and family - we always put the needs of our cats and kittens first and if we strongly believe that your choice would not be the right one for the animal, we will tell you and guide you to find the best fit for everyone involved.

Kittens under 6 months of age require the company of other animals- for a kitten to be the only pet is cruel and the loneliness and lack of stimulus is very likely to cause behavioural issues- e.g. excessive scratching and biting, crying, house soiling and aggression in general. For these reasons we do not allow single kitten adoptions if there are no other cat-friendly pets in the home for the kitten to interact with. If you do not have other pets, you will be required to adopt two kittens or a cat that is >6 months of age.

Our adoption fee of R950 per cat/kitten includes the following:

- FIV & FeLV test (we do not rehome any cats/kittens that tested positive)
- deworming, defleaing and vaccinations up until date of adoption (please note: kittens require monthly vaccinations until the age of 16 weeks!! It is your responsibility to strictly stick to the vaccination schedule of the animal you adopt)
- microchip
- sterilisation (kittens over 5 months and adult cats leave our care sterilised; kittens under 5 months will be rehomed intact and we will contact you to arrange for sterilisation through us once they are due; alternatively you can use your private vet and send us proof thereof).

Please note:
The adoption fee does not nearly cover the costs of caring, feeding, testing, sterilising and medicating them before they leave our care; we see it as a commitment fee.

Disclaimer: Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all kittens and cats adopted out have tested negative for FeLV and FIV we cannot be held responsible for the virus that is in the incubation period of 60 – 90 days.
It is in the best interest of the kitten and adopter to RETEST your kitten at 6 months old for FeLV and FIV.
The testing of young kittens is always risky due to their age because the FeLV virus can be in incubation for up to 90 days.

In the case that the adoption does not work out and you return the kitten/cat, please be advised that the adoption fee is non-refundable.
