We are asking for the community to help in naming our employee childcare facilities.  Below is the the criteria to base your suggestions on:

School buildings may be named after streets or local, state, or national geographic areas if such names have significance and do not lead to confusion.

· School buildings may be named after (i) prominent persons or public officials who have served the District or the community with distinction; (ii) persons who have gained recognition in education or the arts, or (iii) national heroes, whose names shall lend prestige and status to an institution of learning and whose lives and achievements shall serve as positive role models for the students who shall attend the particular school.

· School buildings may be named after persons who donated significant property to the District whose names shall lend prestige and status to an institution of learning and whose lives and achievements shall serve as positive role models for the students who shall attend the particular school.

· Other District facilities shall be named in a descriptive manner to identify their purpose or location (e.g., RISD Administration Building, Professional Development Center, Eagle/Mustang Stadium).

· To avoid confusion, names for schools shall not be duplicated in north-central Texas for high schools, in Dallas and Collin Counties for junior high schools, and in the area north of Interstate Highway 30 and east of Interstate Highway 35 in Dallas County for elementary schools.

All educational facilities that house classrooms shall be named in accordance with the following:

1. Senior high schools may be named to indicate location.

2. Elementary, middle, and high schools may be named to honor educators with outstanding service to the District. The committee may determine that there is a compelling reason to choose an honoree other than an educator. However, educators shall be given first consideration.

3. Alternative schools, magnet schools, or other educational facilities may be given names in honor of an individual and/or that indicate function.

Additional facilities that may include names of honorees:

· Competition sports facilities;

· Major sports/extracurricular activities centers; and

· Administration buildings.
