SwingCouver is a primarily “West Coast Swing Dance” three-to-five-day convention over New Years Eve. Approximately 400-500 dancers are expected to attend from all over the world including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Japan, and Germany to name a few.  SwingCouver will be offering social dance parties and NYE celebration, along with workshops, seminars, and shows, including social and choreographed dance competitions.

GOALS:
1. Welcome and facilitate a fun, safe, and memorable experience for all in attendance.
2. Provide easy & fast event registration and check-in upon arrival for attendees.
3. Protect and overlook the well-being of staff, competitors, attendees, and judges.
4. Greet and assist attendees with any questions or concerns they may have at the event.
5. Observe dancers for proper wristbands and tickets into and throughout the event.

SWINGCOUVER CREW
SwingCouver will be adopting a new and forward-thinking approach to the volunteering positions for 2022.  The focus of the “SwingCouver Crew” of volunteers is to create a team of people who love the dance community, want to protect the integrity of the event, and ensure a successful experience for everyone involved.  Through “out of the box” concepts of wristband monitoring, to a more positive experience throughout the volunteering experience, SwingCouver will thrive!

SwingCouver is committed to creating a safe and fun environment that volunteers are happy to be a part of.  Kyle & Sarah and the SwingCouver Team rely upon and must trust the dependability of the staff and volunteers to bring the event to life. It is crucial that these two elements continue to be the glue that keeps all of us functioning as one big loving dance family!

We are offering $15-$20 per hour volunteered depending on placement. We will not reimburse you beyond the price of your passes, intensives, or other add-ons (non-competition fees). If you miss your volunteer shift for any reason, you may not be reimbursed for the time missed.

I understand that there will be a mandatory Volunteers meeting I must attend either virtually before the event or on Friday of the event either via in person (preferred) or via virtually (coordinated).  At this meeting you will get to talk with the Event Directors as they give their thanks and opening notes to you all.  Exact time for this meeting is currently TBD, but will be emailed ASAP. *
