Rumaki Reo Application 2024
Welcome to the first stage of enrolling in the Rumaki Reo, Māori immersion class, at Pasadena Intermediate School.

This is a provisional enrolment form based on the following information being provided to the school.

A copy of the eligibility document for your child, this can be either:
   - NZ birth certificate or NZ passport (if NZ citizen)
   - Australian passport (if Australian citizen)
Proof of your address (e.g. utilities bill, rental/sales agreement)
Immunisation certificate
A copy of any Court Order documents (if applicable)

Waitītiko Rumaki at Pasadena Intermediate School
Waitītiko Rumaki operates 3 classrooms of Level 1 full immersion students.  The Principal in consultation with the Board of Trustees will decide on the number of students who can enrol each year.  The maximum number of students should not exceed 54 students.  All applicants will be interviewed by the Rumaki teachers to assess their Māori proficiency.
Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following priorities:

First Priority  – The level of proficiency in Te Reo Māori is consistent with the level of classroom i.e. full immersion – Level 1 which is assessed by the school. The proficiency of an applicant will be ranked on a scale of zero to five, zero being an applicant with no Te Reo and 5 being an applicant that has a high level of proficiency

Second Priority – Applicants who are siblings of current and ex-students

Third Priority – Students who have received at least 2 years of Māori-medium education at Westmere School, Richmond Road School, Freemans Bay School, Newton Central School as part of Te Kāhui Ako o Te Waitematā or have completed one year in the differentiated te reo Māori programme at Pasadena Intermediate

Fourth Priority – Any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the school or a child of a member of the board of trustees

Fifth Priority – Students who have received Māori immersion education at other schools than at the previously mentioned school

The closing date for Rumaki (Māori Medium) application is Friday 8 September at 3.00 pm.  Following this, whānau will be contacted to organise a language proficiency interview.  Applicants will be told the outcome of their application on Monday 25 September.
