Vietnam is the one of
the biggest markets among ASEAN nations for Indian mechanical products. Statistics
show that in the fiscal year 2022–2023, Vietnam imported US$ 774.68 million
worth of iron and steel, followed by imports of machinery, equipment, tools and
other spare parts of US$ 549.31 million from India. The value for other common
metals reached US$515 million. More importantly, Vietnam’s overall market
demand for engineering goods might exceed US$ 300 billion by 2030, but the
country’s manufacturing capacity can only fulfill around one-third of that need.
On the other hand, Vietnamese companies exported US$ 804 million of machinery,
equipment and spare parts and US$ 189 million of steel products to India in 2022.
