DjangoGirls Canberra#1 August 2023
WHEN
12.30pm (for 1.00pm start) Friday, 4th August 2023

WHERE
ANU, Acton, Australia

Django Girls is a free programming workshop with a side aim of encouraging more gender diversity in tech. It's for anyone who wants to get involved with technology and programming. No experience is necessary. We will help walk you through your first ever web programming project at your own pace with new friends, the help of robust training materials and wonderful coaches.

We hope to teach and encourage a more diverse range of people to get involved with technology and help to bring more people together to participate in programming projects. We encourage everyone to sign up, regardless of gender, but will preference applications from individuals with a marginalised experience of gender including women (trans + cis), non-binary individuals and trans men.

All the materials we're using are publicly available (CC BY-NC 4.0): https://organize.djangogirls.org/

If you have any questions, you can check out our FAQ or contact the organisers at canberra@djangogirls.org

What We Can Achieve and Learn!
We team you with people who have a similar background and experience to you. This tends to work really well!

Though in order to do this we need to ask you some questions about your background -- we don't want to pry but the better of an idea we have of where you're at before the event, the more we'll be able to do and achieve on the day!
What is your age?
*
An approximation is fine, we are fiercely anti-ageist -- Django Girls has previous accepted attendees aged between 12 - 70+, we mainly need to know if you're underage to provide support if necessary.
Are you currently a student?
*
Includes High school, University and TAFE and both part-time and full-time students
How confident would you say you are with web development?
How confident would you say you are with programming?
What is your technical background?
What is your current occupation?
Tell us what you currently do: working, learning or something else?
Would you be interested in helping to organise this kind of event in the future?
You don't need programming experience, just old-fashioned community spirit! More hands make merrier work. Could we maybe contact you later to continue your involvement in the community?
We only have a limited number of places and we always have to make tough choices about who to prioritise to attend on the day: is there anything else you can tell us to help us make these choices easier?
Is there anything in particular we should be aware of to make your attendance better/easier?
We definitely have wheelchair access, but is there anything we should know about? You're also welcome to reach out directly to the organisers at canberra@djangogirls.org if there's anything you'd like to check with us before the event
Let us know if there are dietary/allergy specifics we can be aware of:
