Eligible students must meet the following qualifications:
- Have an identified career goal
- Must be a rising junior or senior
- CTAE course credit related to career goal
- Completed level 1 and level 2 of CTAE Pathway (can be enrolled in second class of pathway)
- Maintain good attendance and discipline
- Provide your own dependable transportation to/from job site
- Two teacher recommendation forms (will be emailed to CTAE Pathway teacher and one other teacher of your choice)
- Be on track for graduation
Please keep the following general information in mind before applying.
- You will need transportation available to leave campus. Either you drive, or have a ride pick you up. Staying on campus is not an option.
- You can have WBL on your schedule for 1 or 2 blocks. For every block of WBL, the requirement is that you work a minimum of 7.5 hours per week. For example a student with 2 blocks of WBL is required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
- If you do not have a job, start looking NOW! It is not my responsibility to find you a job...please understand that your ability to find employment is your responsibility. I will have from time to time paid or unpaid opportunities and will communicate those as they come.
- Understand that you do not have to obtain all of your hours during your WBL period(s). Your hours are calculated monthly. You can obtain your hours in the evening or on the weekends.
- NO on-campus internships will be available (Ex. Office Aids, Teacher Assistants).
- NO approved IN-HOME job sites.
- Students are not allowed to work with/for their parents.
- You do have ASSIGNMENTS for WBL! Your grade is based upon job performance, assignments and wage/hour reports.
- The first day of the semester you will NOT leave campus early. WBL students will report to Room 40A for their assigned WBL block for student orientation.
