The Arizona Dance Festival (ADF) is open to emerging dance artist and groups as well as professional dancers and companies from all genres and styles of dance.

ADF will showcase an eclectic variety of choreography in dance performances and dance films from Arizona, the Southwest, and beyond. This unique setting will give audiences a taste of what is happening in Arizona's dance scene. It is a perfect platform for dance companies to get exposure and promote their work, to have a performance opportunity without having to incur the costs of producing a full concert, to experiment with new work, and to connect with others in the dance community.
                   
This event will be presented live in-person at Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) Studio on October 22-23, 2021. In addition to the live stage performance, there will be outdoor performances at the TCA East Breezeway. A virtual viewing of the festival performances will also be available for viewing online for a limited amount of time. Details TBD.

WHO CAN APPLY? - The Arizona Dance Festival is open to emerging dance artists and groups, dance film makers, pre-professional dance ensembles as well as professional dancers and companies from all genres and styles of dance. Applications are accepted from anyone from around the world, but priority is given to Arizona dance artists and companies first.

GUIDELINES - Dance works and films will be chosen through an unbiased adjudication process, with attention given to artistry, professionalism, diversity, creativity and dynamic performance. The performance is limited up to 10 minutes or less per dance. Dance works must not have been performed within a 30 mile radius from the event venue and not less than one month prior to the festival dates. THIS FESTIVAL IS A FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT WHICH APPEALS TO A WIDE AUDIENCE. DANCE WORKS MUST BE APPROPRIATE FOR ALL AGES.

AUDITION APPLICATION FEE - There is a non-refundable application fee of $25 for the first submission and $10 per additional submissions.

PARTICIPATION FEES (IF SELECTED):

STUDIO PERFORMANCE - If selected to perform on stage, there is a participation fee per dance/per night of $50 (solo), $75 (duets), $100 (3-5 dancers) and $150 (6 or more dancers).

TCA EAST BREEZEWAY - If you are selected and prefer to perform in the outdoor space, the participation fee is $35 per dance/per night.

DANCE FILM - If selected, the participation fee is $25 per dance film/per night.
The participation fee will help cover expenses related to facility rental, production, tech staff and publicity.

HEALTH AND SAFETY UPDATE (from TCA Administration as of August 9, 2021)
TCA remains committed to a health and safety conscious approach to minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The Delta variant of COVID-19 has proven quite troublesome. In response to the CDC’s new mask guidance, the City of Tempe reinstituted a mask requirement for all individuals who enter city facilities, including TCA, regardless of vaccination status. We are currently assessing the implications of this requirement on events within TCA. We are also coordinating with our arts and culture colleagues in the Valley to plot a path forward through the uncertainty of the fall. We will be in contact again with an update as soon as we have new information.

As of 9/7/21, the City of Tempe is implementing the following COVID-19 policy:
Patrons attending ticketed events at Tempe Center for the Arts are required to provide proof of full vaccination and are required to wear a mask.

An official vaccination card or a digital photo are accepted forms of proof. We will be checking vaccination cards at the main entrance, as well as at the Box Office.

Patrons will be notified with a link to the TCA website for more information.

EVENT CANCELLATION/CHANGE/REFUND: Please be aware that the City of Tempe has the power to close TCA due to excessive numbers of Delta Variant/COVID-19 cases. If for any reason that the live performance must be cancelled or changed, DDT will propose a contingency plan which may allow the festival to continue as a hybrid or fully virtual presentation. Depending on whether there is a full cancellation or change, we can access and address refunding part or all of the participation fees at that time.
