The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis

Description: This book is about how a master demon instructs his apprentice on how to bring about the damnation of a man. It details the tactics used in order to get people to sin. It was written in order to show people how the devil works, so that we can better avoid him. This doesn't seem to have much in terms of sex and swearing, but it might mention the subjects briefly.

Out of the Silent Planet by C. S. Lewis

Description: This book is a science-fiction novel about a man who is kidnapped by aliens and taken to Mars to be sacrificed. In terms of subject matter, there's the concept of human sacrifice, but there doesn't seem to be much else.

Note: I couldn't find a photo of the cover. Oh well.

Animal Farm by George Orwell

Description: This book is about how the animals of a farm revolt against the farmer and take over. Although it's pretty funny, the real point of the book is that it's a metaphor about how the people who overthrow a government usually end up like the very thing they were trying to end.

Jane of Lantern Hill by L. M. Montgomery

Description: This book is about a girl who lives with her mother and grandmother, in a very strict household. She thinks her father is dead, but when she discovers that he is really alive she goes to live with him in a cottage on Lantern Hill. As for anything inappropriate, the book looks pretty innocent to me.

Freddy the Detective by Walter R. Brooks

Description: This book is about a detective pig on Mr. Bean's farm. Inspired by Sherlock Holmes, the pig sets up a detective agency. It's the third book of a series, but it can be read as a standalone, and it's the most well known so it should be easy to get a hold of.

Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson

I'm going to copy--paste this description because I don't know how else to phrase it: The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?
