Launched in 2019, the Northern California Youth Power Fund collaborative is a network of foundations and individual donors committed to creating more equitable, just and effective social, economic, and political systems through the power of youth organizing. Now in year two of the fund, we are excited to announce the next phase of our community driven grantmaking.
Please fill out the following questions in order to be eligible to receive funding. Applications will be reviewed by a committee comprised of youth leaders in the YO! Cali network and funders in the collaborative.
Phase 2 of the Youth Power Fund prioritizes organizations that:
- Are led by (staff and board) and organizing young people of color, women, immigrants, and LGBQ-TGNC (lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer or questioning and transgender and gender nonconforming) communities who are actively working to dismantle white supremacy, especially, but not limited to, Black or Indigenous membership groups.
- Center youth (13-24) in leading collective action, planning, and decision-making for grassroots organizing in their community and make connections between local issues and broader systemic change.
- Provide healing, mental health, and material support to young people in their membership and/or community.
- Are under $2 million in youth organizing program budget size, especially, but not limited to, smaller organizations.
The application review committee will fund a variety of groups that span both established and emerging organizations and are representative of the geographic region of the Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties). In this phase, we will also be sending invitations to a select set of groups in an expanded geographic area of Northern CA (e.g. Central Coast, South Bay, and Far Northern California) in an effort to grow the reach of the Youth Power Fund over time.
Grants will be $30,000 for one year, with a second year determined by the fundraising efforts of the Youth Power Fund.
This application opens Wednesday September 8th, 2021 and will accept submissions until 6pm Pacific Time on Friday October 29th, 2021.
*Note, the form will not save until submission, please keep this page open until you are finished (the timing to complete the form is meant to be no more than 60 minutes on average).
