CODE OF CONDUCT:  I have read the FMAYS Code of Conduct, and I pledge to be a responsible member of FMAYS, adhering to all the rules of safety, policy and procedure.  I will respect the facilities, members and leaders of the organization.  Any infractions of these policies can result in my dismissal of FMAYS.   *

ATTENDANCE: FMAYS musicians are expected to:

Arrive early for rehearsals and concerts to warm up and tune.

Report planned absences with as much advance notice as possible.

Parents must email the Executive Director AND the Music Director when a student will be absent. Emails from students are not acceptable. 

Students are allowed 2 excused absences per semester 

Excused absences are pre-planned family events, family emergencies, or illness. Contact the Executive Director to ask if an absence counts as excused.

3 missed rehearsals will result in a phone call to the parent

It is up to the discretion of the Executive Director and Music Director to decide if the student is prepared to play a concert

Attendance at concerts is mandatory.

Rehearsal & Concert Etiquette – FMAYS musicians are expected to:
Bring all appropriate music to every rehearsal and concert, regardless of sharing music. Always bring your own music to each rehearsal.

Pay attention at all times, and refrain from talking.
Have a pencil ready at all times.

Turn off all electronic devices, including cell phones. Cell phones are not allowed in rehearsals or performances

Refrain from chewing gum, eating, or drinking anything other than water during rehearsals. Water should NOT be on stage during a performance unless approved by the music director.

Follow FMAYS concert attire code for performances.

Respect & Courtesy – FMAYS musicians are expected to:
Respect the property of others, including rehearsal and performance venues, personal property, musical instruments, and music. Students are responsible for reimbursing FMAYS if original parts are lost or destroyed

Refrain from displaying disruptive behavior during rehearsals and breaks.

Clean up personal trash, belongings, etc at the end of rehearsals.

Listen and speak respectfully to peers and adults.

Use appropriate language at all times.

Safety – FMAYS musicians are expected to:
Arrive on time and sign in on the attendance sheet (if applicable).

Arrange for prompt pick up following rehearsals and performances. Contact the Executive Director if other arrangements must be made. If you are running late to pick up a student, please email or text the Executive Director

Always be respectful of, listen to, and follow directions given by adults in charge, including FMAYS faculty, staff, and parent volunteers.

Students and families agree to all health and safety protocols/policies of FMAYS

If a student has special needs, please inform the Executive Director before season’s rehearsals begin. We will try our best to make appropriate accommodations.

Consequences and Processes
Any breaches of the code of conduct will be brought to the student's attention and, at the discretion of the musical or executive directors, to the attention of the musician’s parents.

Additional consequences will be at the discretion of the music and executive directors including revocation of scholarships, removal from rehearsal(s), removal from performances, and up to a non-refundable removal from the organization.

MEDIA RELEASE:  FMAYS will be taking photos and videos of rehearsals and/or performances.  These images and recordings may be placed on our website and on social media.   *
I hereby understand and agree to adhere to the FMAYS musician code of conduct. I understand that if I fail to exhibit appropriate behavior as defined by the Code, I may be dismissed from the orchestra without tuition reimbursement.
