Student Survey: Motivation in Learning
Thank you for helping me by sharing your honest thoughts via answering this important survey. I feel it is a crucial time for me to re-design the curriculum for the Japanese program at Washington HS. Certainly, I would like to have you as my mentor and seek some guidance for redesigning the curriculum as my summer break homework. Arigato!
It should take you between 30-40 minutes to finish it (total 16 questions). The results are completely confidential – your name is NOT requested.

Demographics
1. How would you describe yourself as a HS student? Pick the choice that is closet to your attitude towards learning and your overall level of achievement this semester.
*
1: I know I must get good grades from all my classes to go to a better college. I pay close attentions in every class and complete all my assignments by myself before due dates. My grade is between an A and a B+ average.
2: I try to do my best for all my classes regardless of my preferences. Hopefully I can go to a four-year college. Most of the time, I pay attention in class and do most of my homework, but I sometimes forget to do homework (or done poorly). I have a B average grade.
3: In general, I don’t like to study, but I do because I need to graduate and plan to go to a two or four year college. I can’t say that I pay close attentions in my class in general, but comprehend most of the schoolwork. My grade is between a B and a C average.
4: My teachers and parents say that I can do better, but I am a procrastinator and wait until the last minute to start my homework. I know my schoolwork may not be the best, but I’ve done. I am not so motivated in schooling / learning, but I know I need to do this. My grade is a C average.
5: I know I can do a lot better and stay in focus more on my schoolwork. With distractions in my life, I tend not to prioritize schoolwork in my daily life. I miss many of homework. I sometimes feel incapable and do not understand many of my classes as clearly and as fully as my teachers expect. My grade is below a C average.
