Did you know that in the 1890s, Washington, DC had numerous Black bike clubs, including the Anacostia Cycle Club and Hannibal Athletic Club?
The second annual Chocolate City Community Ride is a wellness event and youth bike giveaway that celebrates this legacy of bikes in Chocolate City, while also fusing together its culture.
Starting at 5 pm on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Anacostia Skating Pavillion, Major Knox Adventures (MKA) is partnering with Bikes for the World, a local non-profit organization distributing bikes to empower communities globally, to provide bicycles to local youth from wards 5, 7, and 8 up to 17 and engage them with bikes as a tool for joy and a healthy outlet for wellness.
We have limited bikes available. To ensure we have the appropriately sized bikes for each youth, we ask a parent/guardian to complete the following survey.
Youth must be present for the pick-up, the bike clinic, and the meet and greet starting at 5:00 - 6:45 pm. Bikes are on a first-come, first-come basis. Completing this form does not guarantee a bike.
The Chocolate City Community Ride is a family affair. Even if you don’t ride bikes, come out for the local vendors, fitness activations, sunset walk/run, and Chocolate City vibes!
