Wacousta Cooperative Preschool Tuition Assistance Program Application

To apply for TAP, an enrollment application and enrollment fee must be submitted to Wacousta Cooperative Preschool. It is the policy of the Wacousta Cooperative Preschool Inc. to provide a tuition assistance program open to all members. TAP shall be implemented within available resources for the purpose of allowing all families to participate in preschool, regardless of their financial circumstances. Applications are reviewed prior to each trimester, and current school budget is considered in the determination of each award. In addition to the TAP program, WCP encourages families in need to apply to the MiBridges program offered by the State of Michigan. Requirements for applying families:

  1. Enrollment application, enrollment fee, and security deposit completed and paid in full. All other invoices and payments due to WCP including additional fees incurred must be paid in full to be considered.
  2. All sections of the Family Handbook, Parental Agreement, Bylaws and other policies for parents set by WCP have been abided by.
  3. Submission of a written request (this form) one month prior to the beginning of the trimester when the TAP will take effect.
  4. Families must apply for TAP each trimester.
  5. Any enrolled family is eligible to apply.
  6. Applications must be submitted no later than one month prior to the upcoming award period.

Fine Print
  1. Applications are due no later than one month before the start of the trimester for which funds are being applied.
  2. Late applications will not be considered.
  3. All applications will be reviewed by the WCP Executive Board at the last board meeting before the start of each trimester.
  4. Board members, staff, or members of the PTA who apply for TAP will be excluded from voting on their application.
  5. Applicants will be notified of their approval/denial and the total funding amount via email at least 48 hours before the start of the trimester. 
  6. Applicants may apply once each trimester. A new application must be completed for each trimester.
  7. Families expressing financial hardship will be given priority consideration for approval, but all applications will be considered.
  8. Receiving TAP assistance does not guarantee the family will receive assistance should they apply more than once.
  9. TAP assistance is not guaranteed for all applicants or for all portions of the school year. Award amounts may vary by trimester and applicant.
  10. All currently enrolled families that meet the eligibility requirements listed are eligible to apply for tuition assistance regardless of financial need.
  11. Applicants approved for funds will show a credit on their tuition invoices for the duration of the trimester.
  12. TAP funds may not be paid out in cash or paid directly to recipients. Funds will only be shown as a credit on tuition invoices.
  13. Applicants receiving tuition credits from fundraising profits are eligible to apply for TAP in addition to receiving fundraising credits.
  14. Applicants may not receive TAP funds in combination with fundraising credits that exceed the amount of regular tuition. Any funds over the amount of regular tuition will be credited to WCP during the time in which TAP funds are awarded. Fundraising credits will default back to the original allocation after the end of TAP fund award period. 
  15. Applicants may still be eligible for TAP funds even if they are receiving other sources of childcare assistance. TAP funds, in combination with additional assistance must not exceed the amount of regular tuition.
  16. TAP funds cannot be used to pay down any balances owed to WCP.
  17. TAP funds cannot be used for security deposits, enrollment fees, late fees, field trip fees, gifts, supply purchases, or other fees or payments incurred by families during the time in which they are enrolled.
  18. TAP funds will be given as a credit on monthly tuition invoices.
  19. Applicants will be notified with a total amount they have been awarded, but TAP funds will be divided equally amongst all regular tuition payments during the trimester in which funds are awarded.
  20. TAP funds cannot be rolled over to any family other than the family to which the original funds were awarded.
  21. TAP funds are given to all guardians listed on the original application for enrollment, and are given to that families account. All guardians listed are considered equal account members by WCP. Funds are not awarded to individuals or split between parties. All account members are responsible for upholding the requirements of TAP funds.
  22. TAP funds are not rolled over beyond the award period.
  23. TAP funds are not transferrable in any way.
  24. Should a family acquire a negative balance after receiving TAP funds, current or additional TAP funds awarded may not be used to bring the account into good standing.
  25. TAP funds cannot be used to pay any past payments owed to WCP.
  26. Should a family withdraw from WCP for any reason before the end of the school year, TAP funds will stop on the last day of attendance regardless of the award period.
  27. Should a family be asked to leave WCP, TAP funds received may be required to be paid back.
  28. Any misuse of TAP funds will require all funds received to be paid back in full to WCP, will make that family permanently ineligible to receive any further funds, and may result in expulsion from WCP.
  29. WCP and it's members reserve the right to approve or deny any applicant for any reason.
  30. WCP and it's members will not approve or deny any applicant on the basis of any protected class or other classification other than perceived financial need.
  31. Ignorance of any requirements of TAP funds, policies of WCP, or other regulations of WCP does not exempt any party from adherence to such regulations. All account members are equally responsible for such regulations and their consequences.
