Hockey Buddies has agreed to once again provide one Jr. Amerks player with a scholarship that will cover 100% of the Jr. Amerks fee for the season.  Hockey Buddies was formed to help underprivileged children have the opportunity to play the game of hockey. 

The Sean Shortsleeve Memorial Scholarship is in memory of the 7-year-old hockey player who lost his life to meningitis in 2004. Each year, the Jr. Amerks allocate funds to the Sean Shortsleeve Memorial Scholarship Fund to help families in financial need by covering a portion of their season dues. Typically, there are approximately 10-15 Sean Shortsleeve scholarships awarded. This is determined by the number of qualified applicants and by the funds currently available. Scholarship allocations follow these guidelines:

- Partial scholarships are not to exceed 50% of the published Jr. Amerks Travel fee schedule, or a maximum of $750.
- Partial scholarships are not to exceed 50% of the published Jr. Amerks House fee schedule.
- Partial scholarships  are not to exceed 50% of the published Jr. Amerks Overage Beginner fee schedule.
- Full (100%) scholarships are awarded for the DoodleBugs Level 1/Level 2 program based on the published Jr. Amerks fee schedule.

All applicants will be considered for the Sean Shortsleeve scholarship.

1. Applicant must be registered with the Rochester Jr. Americans for the 2022-23 season.

2. Applications must be completed by August 31, 2022. Applications completed after the deadline are ineligible.

3. Scholarships are for the 2022-23 season only.

4. Recipients will be selected by a panel independent from the Rochester Jr. Americans. The decision of the selection panel is final and may not be appealed.
