2024 -- Livonia FTC Robotics Interest Survey

Thank you for your interest in Livonia Public Schools Middle School Robotics Teams and Club at the middle school level.  This season we will be offering very active Competition Teams and a fun and engaging Robotics Club to learn more about robotics.  This  interest survey is designed to help us understand to what extent you are interested in FIRST Robotics and what kind of experience you are seeking.   

The Competition Teams require hours of community service & stem activities, heavy fundraising, travel to competitions and  parent commitment.  The Robotics Club will be a more relaxed learning experience and  a fun orientation to robotics.

We will have an informational meeting on May 29 and we will repeat that meeting on May 30 (Please save one of these evenings).  You may attend the meeting most convenient for your family.   We will send a reminder notice of this meeting to all three email addresses on this form.  Please watch for it.  These meetings will take place at the Livonia Career Tech Center.

Competition Team Option

Our Competition Teams have a higher level of time commitment needed. The goal of the Competition team is to advance from Qualifier events to State Championship. Competition teams usually meet 2-3 times per week in September-October for activities such as building, drive practice, programming, outreach, etc. The meeting frequency can increase during our competition season in November & December. Competition teams usually attend 3 Qualifier Events, which can be a full day ~7AM-~7PM. We try to attend Qualifier Event locations that are relatively close to Livonia (Troy, Ann Arbor, etc.), but there is potential to be assigned to Qualifiers an hour away (Flint, Bedford, etc.) or further (North Branch, Jackson, Midland, etc.).

 

Are you interested in a competition team? Are you able to meet 3-5 nights a week for FTC Robotics? (meeting frequency increases as we approach our competitions). *
Are you able to travel up to 2 hours away for competitions, roughly 2-5 events per season.  Qualifier Events are typically a full day ~7AM-~7PM.

An adult family member or designated responsible adult are required to stay with the middle schoolers while traveling and during the competition.   *
Robotics Club Option
The Robotics Club is a different experience than the competition team and is open to all three middle schools.  Meetings are designed to explore robotics in general.

The club will meet for 12 weeks on Wednesday nights  6:00-8:00 PM

Students will attend one meeting a week.  Students may have the option to attend Saturday practice scrimmages at the Livonia Center for fun.  No mandatory traveling is involved.
