Migrant Education Program Parent Advisory Committee Application
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Migrant Education Parent Advisory Committee. The Alaska Migrant Education Program requires that a local school district or educational agency receiving MEP funds and operating a full year migrant program must consult with a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, review, and improvement of the local migrant education program.

The MEP PACs role is to provide advice and assistance to MEP administrators relating to MEP program goals, activities, resources and services to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment. The MEP PAC meets quarterly and may:

✦ Assist by providing input on the educational priorities of the school based on achievement data
✦ Promote and encourage parent and community participation in the school
✦ Provide a communication link between the school and the community
✦ Help identify the concerns of students, parents, and community members and assist in developing solutions

MEP PAC applications are reviewed and candidates selected by the Chair and Co-Chair of the Committee.
