Community Virtual Power Plant (C-VPP)
This survey is to determine your interest in participating in a Community Virtual Power Plant (C-VPP). It is non-binding and just to determine interests and preferences. Unless we have your permission the information will only be shared in an aggregated form with your community association.

The core idea of a C-VPP is that those generating energy can sell excess power (preset trading) to the other members at above the current feed-in rate offered by the big Energy Retailers. Members are able to purchase this power at a cheaper rate than the generally available market rate. Excess power, not immediately used, will be stored within the community and available at peak times to members or traded to provide an income to the communities’ organisation.  Additional aspects include detailed energy monitoring and automated demand control (explained below).

The intention is NOT to take the community off the electricity grid but to rather work with the local grid operator to improve power resilience. There will be no impact on those not wishing to join – you will continue as usual with your chosen electricity retail provider. There will also be no impact on those who join if they do not wish to trade power (by preset price setting) or in the event the C-VPP is wound up.

We strongly believe that any system installed needs to be economically viable both for the owner and the community. i.e. it supports itself financially.

Ideally this survey should be completed by the person who pays the electricity bill.
