Our Shared Cultural Heritage
(OSCH) is looking for six young people, aged 16-25 of South Asian Heritage to

of their own exhibition that will be displayed in Street Level Photoworks
(Glasgow) and in Bangalore, as well as online and on social media. The project
will run from February to September 2023 and meeting will be held either online
or in person on a fortnightly basis (exact schedule will be provided at the
beginning of the opportunity).
What you will do:

and identity, using photography and museum collections as a point of origin or
thematic reference.
- Take part in a series of practical in-person
photography workshops in Glasgow, led by artists from Street Level, a leading
photography arts organisation.
- Attend online talks and participate in discussion
and artistic collaboration between the young people of both countries which
responds to your interests.
- Participate in skills and knowledge sharing
between the museum institutions, partners involved, and the participants of the
programme in Glasgow and Bangalore.
Successful applicant will get:
- High-quality
practical training (9 days) in photography - intro to DSLR;
intro to black & white photography; intro to digital post-production - delivered
by Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow, with an online contextual programme of
talks.
- Online sessions for the participants of the
project in Glasgow and Bangalore, to allow for sharing, exchange and dialogue.
- Mentoring support and feedback on work
development.
- A multi-city exhibition, online and in-person (in
Glasgow and Bangalore), that showcases selected work produced by all
participants as part of the training programme at both locations.
- All materials and travel expenses provided. Participants need to be based in Glasgow or surrounding areas.
No photography or any other artistic experience
required and we will prioritise applicants without formal photography
qualifications.

explore identity, connect with others and create new opportunities for young
people. The project is led by British Council in partnership with Glasgow Life,
Manchester Museum and UK Youth. It is funded by the National Lottery Heritage
Fund's Kick the Dust programme.
