Shatter the Silence, Share the Strength

At Resilience, we are committed to providing support, raising awareness, and fostering a community of strength and resilience for survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and stalking.

Your voice matters, and by sharing your experiences, you can help inspire others to shatter the silence and share their strength.

Our theme for Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October is Shatter the Silence, Share the Strength. We want to amplify survivor voices and share the ways that your strength has enabled you to prevail in a time when things were difficult.

We invite you to complete our open survey – we intend to share survivor quotes throughout October in an effort to not only raise public awareness about the issues of domestic and sexual violence, but also to celebrate the resilience of survivors everywhere.

“From every wound, there is a scar, and every scar tells a story. A story that says, I survived.”
— Craig Scott

In your journey as a survivor, what challenges have you encountered? Which support services or resources have been significant for you? Are there strategies, therapies, or practices that have aided your healing? How did you discover strength within yourself while navigating these experiences? What steps do you take to prioritize self-care and well-being on your path as a survivor?

“What? You too? I thought I was the only one?”
- CS Lewis

Understanding that you're not alone can be a powerful step towards healing and regaining your voice. Have you had someone in your life who offered you validation when you needed it most? How did their validation impact your journey? If you feel comfortable, please share something that could help validate and support other survivors.

“You’re not a victim for sharing your story. You are a survivor setting the world on fire with your truth. And you never know who needs your light, your warmth, and raging courage.”
- Alex Elle

How do you envision your story inspiring others? What advice would you give someone who is struggling to find their voice and share their story? What words of encouragement would you like to share with fellow survivors?

“Tell the story of the mountain you climb. Your words could become a page in someone else’s survival guide.”
– Morgan Harper Nichols

What advice or insights would you include from your own survival guide for someone facing abuse?
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate action of its members" - Coretta Scott King

In what ways do you believe society can work together to prevent domestic violence, sexual abuse, and stalking?  What do you believe are the most important aspects of raising awareness about domestic violence, sexual abuse, and stalking, and the healing that takes place after shattering the silence?
