English Medium Instruction (EMI) has been a growing trend in Taiwanese universities. While many universities strive to implement EMI in their classes, students often find it challenging to learn academic content using a foreign language they are still learning. In this talk, we will begin by discussing the definitions of EMI. Then, we will draw on research on EMI in Taiwan to explore the challenges students may encounter, as well as teaching principles and strategies for facilitating students’ learning. Finally, we will discuss the application of some EMI resources for teachers.
