In this collaborative conversation, Dr. Brenda Vrkljan, professor, School of Rehabilitation Science and scientific co-lead of the McMaster Collaborative for Health and Aging, together with project partners, will outline a proposed teaching and learning platform coined ‘the iAM Human Conversation eXchange.’ This platform aims to grow awareness about aging, intersectionality, and cultural humility. With a beta version of the iAM Human platform piloted in January 2023, the objectives of this collaborative conversation are:
1) Learn some of the key concepts that underly Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives
2) Explore the challenges and benefits of implementing this type of teaching & learning platform
3) Consider ways this platform can be used and improved to advance inclusivity in health and aging research
This work is supported by funding from the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging at McMaster University and the Institute of Aging, Canadian Institutes for Health Research. Funding has also been provided by the MacPherson Institute for Teaching and Learning at McMaster University.
