Nominations for SWGSA Board of Directors and Non-Executive Positions

Attention ALL first year On-Campus and 2nd year part-time/online MSW students (any MSW student not graduating this year):
 
The Social Work Graduate Student Association is happy to announce elections for its next wave of leadership. All positions are open to MSW students in good standing. Please complete this form if you would like to be considered for a position. Your brief nomination pitch will be shared with students during the voting process, so please keep in mind that others will see your pitch. Each position and its generally designated responsibilities are listed on this form. Please only submit ONE nomination.

If you are interested in running for a position:

The new board will be announced on May 7th, 2020.

SWGSA Nomination for Executive Committee and Committee Chairs
The Executive Committee positions that remain open for SWGSA consists of one (1) Treasurer.

Additionally, two (2) of the standing committees. The chair positions available are   Student Representation Online/Hybrid Co-chair & Outreach Online/Hybrid Co-chair.

Further, one (1) non-Executive, non-chair position remains open, MSW First-Year Student Representative.

 All committee chairs assume responsibility of their respective sub-committees.

Nomination for Committee Chairpersons:
Committee Chairpersons shall be members of the Board of Directors and attend meetings as necessary. Each Committee Chairperson shall be responsible for reporting the business of their committee and subcommittees at Board meetings and maintaining clear communication with other members of the Board. The Committee Chairpersons will also be responsible for meeting with their committee members as necessary and assume responsibility of all tasks in the event that are no members or lack activity from the committee.
ONLINE/HYBRID STUDENT REPRESENTATION COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR: Must be an MSW Online or Hybrid Program student. Oversees current subcommittees of Children Youth and Families, Aging and Mental health, faculty liaisons, and USWA/SWGSA. Chairpersons will also oversee the active participation in faculty and administrative meetings when appropriate, and the development and maintenance of open communication among students, faculty, staff, and administrative personnel, in order to voice student concerns, needs, and perspectives. Shares the role with the Online/Hybrid Student Representation Co-Chair and the two members will divvy up tasks according to their own strengths and preferences.

ONLINE/HYBRID OUTREACH COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR: Must be an MSW Online or Hybrid Program student. Responsible for active outreach to all current and prospective social work students in the School of Social Work through social activities, participation in orientation events, and mentoring. Oversees current subcommittees of Social Media, Social Events and Fundraising. Shares the role with the  Outreach Co-Chair and the two members will divvy up tasks according to their own strengths and preferences.

Nomination for Non-Executive Positions
Non-Executive positions are required to attend monthly SWGSA Meetings and serve as a liaison to their designated affiliation.
FIRST-YEAR MSW STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE: Work on behalf of the SJSU MSW first-year students to advocate for their needs and collaborate with all other student year groups for events, trainings, and social functions. Must be an MSW First-year student and attend SWGSA Meetings.
