Katherine Young Photographer Corps
The team at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre are pleased to announce a new creative project for local young people—thanks to generous support from the Northern Territory Government Katherine Youth Activities Fund. We are launching the Katherine Young Photographer Corps—an ongoing arts education initiative to foster young creative people and image-makers, and capture scenes of life, people, and place in our region. The ongoing program is free and open to all local students and young people, and you can use this form to express interest for yourself or your child.
Katherine-based professional photographer Elise Kristy is coordinating the program, and is scheduling upcoming workshops for young people. Sessions will be held at Godinymayin and at locations around town, and participants can attend any sessions they would like—free of charge. Digital photography equipment, printing and supplies, and exhibition support will also be provided by the project.
With each free workshop, young participants will capture people, places, friends, family, shops, landscapes, and life in our community. At the completion of each session, the participants and coordinator will print the best images in archival form, and a copy to take home for their own display. And eventually, their photographs will be exhibited in the gallery at Godinymayin.
Parents, students, and youth organisations wanting to get involved with the Katherine Young Photographer Corps should complete the below, and Elise will get back to you with more information about our upcoming activities.
