Frequently asked questions

Q. How can I get a hold of you?
A. At anytime please feel free to text us, 517-740-8692, email me passionfurpaws1@gmail.com or send me a message on Facebook https://m.facebook.com/Passion.Fur.Paws.1/Facebook is also where you’ll need to go to like my page to see immediate news of any changes in class, training tips, and other fun articles!
Q.What type of training do you use?
A. Our approach is decidedly dog and people friendly. We place an emphasis on helping people learn how to manage their dog’s time so as to best set them up for behavior success. In addition, we adhere to an approach to teaching behaviors that encourages your dog to be motivated to want to learn. Creating a dog that is an enthusiastic student is the easiest and fastest route to helping them achieve success in terms of being a compliant and mannerly member of the family.

Q. Can more than one person in my family attend our training session?
A. We not only welcome but encourage your entire family to be involved with your pups training, we do ask that children are not running about and distracting other students.

Q. Will my dog be socializing with other dogs?
A. This is completely up to you, we do insist on you asking the other owner before approaching your dog to theirs.

Q. What should I bring to my session?
A.
1. A training collar (we'll figure this out together at our first class if needed),
2. 6ft leash {absolutely no bungee or retractable leashes please}
3. High value treats, we also have freeze dried liver for sale at the studio

Q. How do I decide which class is right for my dog?
A. If your pup is 8 weeks to 5 months you will be placed in the puppy preschool bundle, from 5 months and up you would start with Basic Obedience 1,  some dogs closer to 5 months and of higher intelligence will be bumped to Basic 1, unless your dog can pass the basic obedience test and then you can start the advanced obedience class. If you are looking for a therapy or service dog then we start that program right away.
Q. I can’t make it to session. What should I do?
A. Just let us know vis email or messenger and you can register for a make-up session. These sessions are  every other Wednesday at 6pm, you'll register for the session on our website. If you did NOT let us know you wouldn't be there, you forfeit your ability to make up your missed session.

Q. Is there a guarantee for your training?
A. If you and your dog are working very hard, doing your homework and something is not coming together, we will work with you until everything falls into place.

Q. What methods of payments do you accept?
A. I will send you an invoice via email

Q. What neighborhoods do you serve for private lessons?
A. I travel up to 15 miles from Jackson for private lessons and further but a trip fee will be added

Q. What vaccinations do you require?
A. We require that dogs be up to date on Distemper, Parvo and Rabies vaccinations or titers. Puppies must be FULLY vaccinated (unless your vet says otherwise)
