The Retreat Teen Leadership Council is The Retreat's partnership with high school students to help prevent abuse and promote respect in all relationships throughout our community.  Thank you for your interest in working with us on our remote community service program. The program is free of charge.

Two options for the Teen Leadership Council Spring 2022 Session:

1. Google Classroom: For students new to TLC in 2022, an asynchronous, go-at your own pace, program.  Engage with activities and participant discussions online.

2. Outreach Project Development.  TLC Executive Committee. For continuing/returning members who have already completed The Retreat's TLC Google Classroom program in the Fall or Spring of 2021.  During a combination of online and in-person meetings, TLC Executive Committee members will work together to develop and lead outreach projects to raise awareness about The Retreat and healthy relationships.

The Retreat's TLC Spring session will start the week of March 28th, 2022 and will end the week of May 23rd.

What is the Teen Leaders program?
The Teen Leaders program is a community service program that trains and supports high school students to become ambassadors and advocates who work together to help prevent abuse and promote respect in all relationships throughout our community.  We help foster awareness about the dynamics of both abusive and healthy relationships, and train students about safe, effective and appropriate intervention strategies through fun and meaningful activities.
How long is the program?
Teen Leaders commit to an intensive training and leadership development program for a minimum of 8 weeks, with training sessions and special events.  Students have the opportunity to create and implement special projects (workshop, media outreach, event, video, fundraiser, survey etc.) Workshops meet remotely via Google Classroom, Canvas, Zoom and other virtual platforms.

Where does the program meet?
The Retreat’s main offices are closed for workshops but we are still providing programming remotely. We can also coordinate with your school or community group to host programs.
Do I earn community service hours?
Yes! Students can earn community service credit hours upon successful completion of each training session of the program.  Additional community service hours are awarded for extended independent projects and participation in additional sessions.

Is this program open to everyone?
Yes!  All high school students are welcome to participate!
