Thank you for your interest in the Climate Equity Committee (CEC)! The CEC is one of three OCF Community Partnership programs being launched this year, striving to bring disproportionately impacted communities to the center of climate action solutions. In Fort Collins, like in many U.S. cities and countries, there is a history of environmental injustice. The people most impacted by climate change are often those with the least decision-making power and influence. The City of Fort Collins is striving to elevate and invest in content and context expertise from historically underrepresented groups for accessible and equitable solutions that foster relationship building and a culture of trust and reciprocity. Committee members will be compensated $25/hour, up to $1,000 total. Committee members will have the option of committing to either a 1-year or 2-year term.
Committee Term Cycles(term cycles are approximates): 1-year term July 2023 - July 2024 2-year term July 2023 - July 2025
We encourage all those who are interested to apply. The CEC will be a resource to help guide projects and programs as they are being developed and implemented towards more equitable processes and outcomes.
The primary focus of the CEC is equity accountability with the purpose of developing civic leadership skills within historically marginalized parts of the community. Members will learn how to influence City processes and systems while advocating for equitable change. Staff will use the following criteria to select committee members:
- Relationship and connection to underrepresented communities identified in the OCF Plan*; ability and willingness to be a community liaison
- Experience advancing environmental justice / commitment to environmental justice
- Live, work, or study in Fort Collins
- English speaking and writing proficiency/bi-lingual
- Able to commit to 40 hours within a 1-year term cycle
- Willing to complete a W-9 form for tax purposes
