Call for Works for Solo Piano | Bite Matters
"Bite Matters" is an on-going online showcase of short contemporary works written for solo instruments. Selected works will be performed by a member of the Ensemble Matters. The performance will be filmed and broadcasted online (e.g. Youtube). You may also be invited to talk about the piece in the form of a video interview.

Currently, we are seeking existing works for solo piano under 5 minutes, without electronics. The call closes on 30th April 2021 at 23:59 UKT. Details below:

- Inside-the-piano techniques are not allowed due to the restriction of our recording venue.

- We would like the music to be related to our theme this year, "Shades of Light". We are open to all kinds of interpretations, but if you need some inspiration, feel free to visit: https://ensemblematters.com/theme-2021/

- Entry is free of charge.

- Your submission does not need to be anonymised.

- As an official partner of Sound and Music's "Fair Access Principles", we welcome all composers regardless of age, gender, nationality, or education background.

Your work will be at least reviewed by two of our members on a rotational basis, but always including the prospective performer. Our selection criteria mostly depends on the artistic merits of your submitted work(s). Constructive feedback will be given to unselected entries. We will aim to respond to your submission within 3 months.

As an emerging ensemble, at present we are unlikely to provide any fees. However, we have plans for the future and will be looking at the possibility of setting up a composer's fund.

Should you have any questions or difficulty in filling out the form, please contact Owen or Fran via hello@ensemblematters.com

Many thanks and we looking forward to seeing your work(s).
