Indigenous Civic and Community Video Journalist Intern
Are you passionate about sharing stories and working with the community? Barrie Community Media is inviting applications for the position of an Indigenous Civic and Community Video Journalist Intern. We are a local non-profit media organization founded to cover local civic issues.

Duration: Starts immediately and ends March 31, 2023, with the possibility of renewal
Wage: up to $20.00 per hour, up to 35 hours per week
Description: Barrie Community Media is now accepting applications for an Indigenous Civic and Community Video Journalist Intern. This position is funded by The Local Journalism Initiative (Department of Canadian Heritage, Government of Canada) via the Canadian Association of Community Television Stations and Users (CACTUS). The intern will work with the Civic and Community Video Journalist to produce accessible civic journalism, design programming schedules and implement social media strategies. The main reporting being the activities of the local community’s civic institutions and subjects of local importance.
Ideal candidates will have a strong desire to learn about video journalism, a keen interest to know how local issues impact residents, and a passion for storytelling.
