Spring Meeting: Saturday, February 26th, on ZOOM.

The Spring 2022 meeting of the UCA will be held on Saturday, February 26th through Zoom. Please join us for a day of stimulating scholarly and pedagogical discussion and an opportunity to reconnect with our colleagues. Please use the form below to REGISTER for the conference and to SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT. Please register for attendance even if you do not decide to submit an abstract for the conference.

General Call for Papers:
The Utah Classical Association is seeking papers and presentations for its Spring 2022 meeting. We welcome abstracts on any aspect of Classical Studies or Latin and Greek Pedagogy. Proposals should be for a 15-20 minute paper, unless you specify otherwise in your abstract (for instance, poster presentations or shorter pedagogical presentations are also welcomed). Please submit an abstract or description of the presentation (ca. 100-500 words) below. The call for papers will remain open until February 15th, 2022.

“Classics and Gaming” Panel
In addition to our general sessions, we will hold a special panel with the topic “Classics and Gaming” at our Spring 2022 meeting. This panel will explore how the world of gaming (taken broadly to include board games, video games, sports, etc.) engages with Classical antiquity. We welcome papers on new research into the reception of the Classical world in gaming media, pedagogical presentations on ways to use games in the classroom and beyond, and explorations or demonstrations of games from antiquity. This panel will consider the many ways that scholars and educators can use various aspects of gaming to engage and motivate our students. Please submit an abstract or description of the presentation (ca. 100-500 words) below and indicate here that your submission is intended for the “Classics and Gaming” panel. The call for papers will remain open until February 15th, 2022.
