SELFMATTERS Workplace Financial Wellness Programme
SELFMatters recognised the all-encompassing benefits and intersectionality of financial wellness in health and well-being, gender equity, diversity and inclusion, women's policies and broader social transformation e.g., increasing financial capability, financial resilience and building wealth.
Global organisations such as OECD, World Economic Forum, WHO, and UN support financial literacy in the workplace, schools and community organisations.
Some workplaces and schools worldwide have introduced financial wellness and financial literacy.
Many countries, particularly the Nordic countries, are taking financial literacy seriously to the next level. Finland, for example, launched their ambitious goal to be the world’s financially literate country by 2030 on 27 January 2022. Their strategy for the 8-year time frame is a collaboration with the stakeholders to make this goal a reality.
Working together is the only way.
Let us work together to -
- Promote financial wellness at any opportunity e.g. Women's Month in March 2023 or corporate events.
- Introduce Financial Wellness at the Workplace and make it accessible from onboarding through to retirement. No one should retire without a financial plan.
- Ensure young people take up financial literacy before they transition into the world of work to equip them with skills and knowledge to thrive in an increasingly complex environment. No one should leave school without a financial plan.
