We are looking for testimonies from people who have experienced, survived, and integrated this complicated human experience.
The decision from the U.S. Supreme Court has triggered a cacophony of emotions and has highlighted the critical importance of womxn and trans men to share their stories, especially from historically silenced communities. Many who have experienced abortions have often done so in secret and with limited support leading to harmful shame-spirals and repetitive patterns of behavior.
Our goal for the Sacral Bodies: Womxn’s Testimonies of Abortion Anthology is to clear the cobwebs from the stories of womxn who live to share their struggles and wisdom with terminated pregnancies. What helped you survive? How did you learn to integrate this experience into the fabric of your life? What inspires you to join the struggle for womxn’s rights in the U.S. and beyond?
We are looking for your previously unpublished poetry, short prose & essays, music, short form videos, photography, and art. We especially encourage racialized and trans communities to submit their writing and artwork for publication.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- Open to Women, Womxn, and Non-Binary Creators
- Please fill out the GOOGLE FORM below & then email your submissions to: sacralbodies@gmail.com
- Submit previously unpublished: Poetry (max 50 lines), short prose & essays (1,500 words max), music (see special instructions below), and visual art/photography. One art piece/photograph will be picked as the book cover. Winner will be notified in advance of book production.
- Emailed submissions should have your legal and author name, email address, social media handles, location, word count (prose/essay), and titles.
- Font 12 pt Times New Roman
- Please double space your prose pieces
- DOC, DOCx, or PDF format
- Submit up to 3 pieces maximum
- Simultaneous submissions accepted. Please notify if your piece is no longer available for publication.
*Special Instructions: If submitting music or video, please send us the audio file or the video in an unlisted YouTube Video link. QR codes will be published in the anthology for anyone wanting to take advantage of this digital function.
