The Whole Hearts, Minds, & Bodies Department:
WHMB provides one on one Nature Based Therapeutic Mentoring, Peer run Connect Groups and walk in Support Services (including lunch programing for both Sierra and Truckee High) to youth with serious trauma, emotional disturbance related to mental or behavioral health and/or substance use issues.

Gateway Mountain Center proudly hosts the first every Community Based Youth Wellness Center!  Our 4Roots Youth Wellness Center is a unique space, conveniently located across from Truckee High School. The 4Roots YWC is open Monday - Friday from 12-5 pm for walk in, direct  and group peer support.

We are looking for THERAPEUTIC MENTORS and PEER SUPPORT STAFF
As a  Whole Hearts Minds and Bodies clinically-supervised Therapeutic Mentor you will be trained in our 4Roots Method and leading edge humanistic, trauma-informed modalities. WHMB Therapeutic Mentors provide a consistent, caring, authentic relationship with the youth through supported risk taking in nature such as kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and personal reflection.

As a *Peer Support Staff member you will use your self identified lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges to work collaboratively with clients, their families, and the clinical team to promote empowerment, self-advocacy, and recovery. Your role will involve providing emotional support, sharing coping strategies, and assisting individuals in accessing appropriate resources and services, and utilizing nature as a healing tool. In addition to supporting and staffing of our 4Roots Youth Wellness Center

Clinical Supervisors (CS) provide oversight and support to our therapeutic mentors and certified peer support staff who work in the field with our clients.  The CS will meet with mentor(s)/peer(s) as assigned, at least two times per month for 30 minutes to ensure our mentors are providing trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate and clinically sound interventions to our clients.
