"We invite you to an online discussion with foreign expert Sarah Stonbely on local journalism and the issues surrounding the emergence of media deserts. Currently serving as the director of the State of Local News Project, Sarah Stonbely monitors and analyzes the current state of local media across America. The project identifies local news deserts and highlights areas at risk of such a condition.
During the discussion, we will explore the main characteristics of media deserts, how necessary research data is collected, which types of local governments are more likely to experience media deserts, and why. Additionally, we will delve into the political orientation of people living in these areas. We will attempt to compare situations in America and Slovakia and understand how to prevent the emergence of media deserts in the future.
The online discussion will take place on Thursday, February 22, at 4:00 PM.
Please note that the discussion will be conducted in English.
