SB 202 will be bad news for students, staff, and faculty in Indiana and for the Indiana economy. But despite having listened to
3 hours of testimony from AAUP members and more on how it will hurt Indiana universities, the House Education Committee is going ahead with a vote on SB 202 on
Wednesday Feb 21 at 10:30 am.
There will be no time for public testimony. But we don't want the legislators to think we've given up, so we are going to show up anyway.
Join us on our trip to the Indianapolis State House to the House Education Committee hearing Feb 21 at 10:30 am. We need people to pack the committee room in their AAUP gear and red shirts with AAUP buttons, who are willing to turn their backs (literally) if the Republicans on the committee vote to approve the bill and send it to the House. If we don't get 30 people able to go, we won't go at all.
This form collects emails (personal/non-institutional preferred) so we can get back to you with details and help coordinate carpooling. This trip is open to all faculty and students - it is coordinated through AAUP, but you do not need to be an AAUP member.
Higher education needs your help - academic freedom, tenure, and faculty work won't be the same Indiana without it.
