Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee (CTE)

FCCPTA is seeking a liaison to this external FCPS School Board Committee which also consists of representatives from business, industry & labor, School Board appointees and a student representative. CTE aims to maintain and improve the effectiveness of offered courses and programs to provide students with the occupational knowledge and valuable skills to prepare them for the workforce.

This non-voting executive board member has an extremely important role - motivating our local units with innovative ways to recruit and maintain PTA membership! After a tough school year, many families will be seeking ways to get more involved within their school community, and PTA is a natural fit. Help local units come up with creative ways to make an exciting membership campaign. Think "August Advantage"- where you invite previous members to renew their membership, with a perk of course. Other possibilities include "Scoop September" where the class with the most PTA members enjoys an ice-cream party, or even "Social September" -what better way to make friends than PTA? This is a newly created position so the possibilities are endless. Your primary focus is coming up with the ideas and then passing them along to the local units. They do the hard work on the ground level, whereas you get to come up with fun themes from home in your cozy PJs. The Fairfax County Council PTA, like other PTA organizations, prides itself on being a member-driven organization. The FCCPTA voting body, consisting of PTA and PTSA members, elect the core officers for each FCCPTA Executive Board. Our next election is in Spring 2022, and we need two members of PTA/PTSAs that are in good standing with the FCCPTA to help identify candidates for leadership. This is your opportunity to shape the future of the FCCPTA and help give it direction in how it will make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
