The Tobacco Free Generation (TFG) Endgame (2010) is recognised as an international endgame approach in 2011 by one of the global leaders in tobacco control, Prof Ruth Malone. Since then, we have been mobilising society via a social movement that many of us have not experienced before or learnt in school. It is specifically focussed on prevention, on those teens who have not started being addicted to nicotine. TFG do not impose more regulations on current smokers.

Engendering a global social movement requires perseverance and a strong educational approach. This is a cohort based, educational programme that is coupled with strong elements of youth engagement, peer leadership and inexpensive video-making (2012) to win the mindsets of un-addicted teenagers. These teens then form the new social norm, looking out for their own cohorts and reducing the need for enforcement resources. The Tobacco Free Generation approach continues to gain traction after it was successfully piloted in 2016 at Balanga City, a local government unit in the Philippines. (Internet search Balanga City and Tobacco Free Generation, TFG Filipinas). Thereafter, Brookline Massachusetts, USA in 2021 (TFG2000) and New Zealand in 2022 (TFG2009). Leaders from Malaysia, Hongkong and the United Kingdom (TFG2009) have similarly announced intentions.

Join us as we share the approach, rationale and the current status of this social movement.

Here are the reasons for your participation.

1. If you are a teenager, then be able to see that you can make an impact on your community and society.

2. If you are an adult, learn to see where we, even governments across the world, have been 'blinded'' in our approach towards nicotine, tobacco and vaping control

3. If you are an academic, this opens up the scope for more meaningful and impactful research.

4. If you are a legislator, you will see how many of the current implementation angst will be reduced or eliminated. You can also garner greater community support for your leadership.

5. If you are a philanthropist, you will see that this is completely aligned with saving humanity & the environment, carries greater sustainability and has more harmonious governance. Your funding will serve a greater purpose.
