DES Chromebook Help Desk Ticket & Tips

Tip 1)  Frozen Screen or just can’t log on
If your Chromebook is frozen and you cannot get it to respond, hold down the power button in the top right-hand corner for 10 seconds. Once it powers down wait 5 seconds and press the same power button again until the screen comes on.
Tip 2) If a website doesn't load in a timely manner.
Be patient, it could be that the internet is slow due to heavy traffic from increased internet usage.
Tip 3) If you are having trouble logging on.
Please double check username and password and caps lock if not using Chromebook.
Tip 4) WiFi Connection
In the bottom right corner, locate the WiFi symbol. Be sure that you are connected to a WiFi connection. Should you need to connect, you can come to the school parking lot to connect to the SDPC WiFi using your student Chromebook and SDPC information.
Tip 5) Can not Connect to the internet with school-supplied hotspot
If you are using a hotspot given to you by the SDPC you are allowed 500 mg a day. If you are trying to connect 2 students at one time and trying to use WebEx you may need to turn off the video portion of the WebEx. This will help save data usage. The student will still be able to see the teacher and her/his instruction.
Tip 6) When WiFi is unavailable.
Tip 7) If the screen appears to be different from what students normally see.
In the bottom right corner, click to reveal accessilibity. If there are any items checked, see that those options are unchecked.
Tip 8) If your Chromebook will NOT power on. Ask these three questions:
1. Did I charge my Chromebook?
2. Was my power cord connected to an active power supply and to my Chromebook completely?
3. This didn't work. What now?
